Display images?

Aug 15, 2011 at 1:37 PM

Now that the forum software allows the insertion of images, is there any way to have images displayed in the client? Or, failing that, to modify the image URL so that it opens in the default browser? At present, the bare URL (e.g. http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/getfile/1701/) only works when invoked from the page it resides on, and I can't see how to make IE9 just open the PNG file lurking behind the URL.

The link in the message body is to a file called, I think, 1789.png, but I can't find the rest of the URL...

Do you have an suggestions how this point can be solved?

My only idea is an "proxy-server" which accepts the file id and returns a correct header in png format... for example: http://my-getfile.proxy.com/?1789 which gets the image from the MS site and returns the correct header with correct data...

Maybe you should also ask MS why the url is not working directly... here:

FireFox is corrently dislaying the image!

Only IE9 cannot show the image, because it does not realize "Content-Type: image"...
